Birchbox May Review

*Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links*

Birchbox: A monthly subscription box that includes everything from skincare to makeup, as well as fun non-beauty extras.
Price: $10.00 monthly

I used to receive Birchbox a LONG time ago. But, I felt it really did not fit what I was looking for. I was receiving a lot of tiny perfume samples (I mean 5-7 a month) and super small samples of other products. I really prefer a decent size sample. I like to use a product for about a week to be able to determine if I really want to buy it. So, I cancelled. I decided I wanted to give it another try, so I re-subscribed. I have REALLY high hopes for Birchbox this go around.

First off, I really like the yellow outer box.

I also like that they put the outer box on to protect the inner box, these are perfect for storing or reusing for gifts!

I thought the pattern was super cool. It also matched the dress on the subscription card. The yellow tissue paper was a wonderful contrast and matched the outer shell box. Details like this really show that the company is paying attention.

I did not recognize any of the products right off the bat. But, they looked bigger which I like.

One of the things I look for in a box is the information card. This really help in identifying the products, their purpose, maybe cost, and if I am missing anything in my box. Birchbox has a nice, easy to read card.

Here is a product that I was glad I had the information card for!

Art Duo Pen by Color Club in Black ($4.00): At first, when I unscrewed the lid I saw a smallish brush, which I knew would not do tiny details. After reading online, if you pull the top off, there is a tiny needle pointed pen that you just squeeze the bottle to use. This is actually really useful and I will try it out!

Body Lotion Coconut Fig Leaf by Caldrea ($.68): This is a sample I wish was about 4 times that size. I like it, but would like to use it a few times before running out.

Luminizing Moisture Tint- Opal by Jouer ($5.00): I have heard of this brand, but never tried this specific product. I hope it works well though!

Body Wash Tea Olive Lime by Caldrea ($2.35): This is a very light smell, but strong enough to leave a smell! I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.

Supergoop! Everyday SPF 50 with Celluar Response Technology ($2.70): This isn't a big enough size for me to use and actually review. It may work really well, but I can't tell. It seems cool looking.

Kerastase Cristaliste Masque Cristal ($2.53): I wasn't really sure what this was. After reading it is a treatment to soften your hair. I am excited to try this!

$25.00 to use off a $75.00 or more order at Kate Spade Saturday stores or online at Saturday.com.I won't include this price on my total value because you have to spend money to use it. But, I really like it and plan on using it!

I feel that Birchbox is a subscription to introduce new products not necessarily get the best value. The total value for my box was $17.26. Since the box was $10.00, the value was pretty good. The prices I included are the lowest I could find online, like usual. I do not include the retail prices (or the prices that Birchbox included). Overall, I was happy with the box. I plan to keep it at least a few more months.

If you are interested in signing up for Birchbox you can click here. If you use the code "BB100" you get to skip the wait line for subscribing and get 100 Birchbox points. That equals $10.00 in the shop!

Did you get this months Birchbox? What was your favorite item? How are you planning on using you $25.00 promo code?
